NOTES: What a day! A well deserved day with just the family and nature. After breakfast we loaded up and headed west towards Letchworth State Park–thephoto (2) supposed Grand Canyon of the East. I had never been nor had Debbie (or Mathew or Dylan for that matter). It was a beautiful day and the drive itself was well worth it. One of the big surprises was the multitude of wind machines (energy generating) near Cohocton. I hadn’t seen anything like it since California. It instigated a small debate about how to best make energy for our growing population. Read this great piece by my wife and you’ll see why wind energy just simply makes sense. We pressed on. We arrived at LSP around 1PM and simply got absorbed by the day, the beauty, and the wondrous nature around us. Needless to say the next 3 hours were simply awesome. One thought I had while hiking was how (and remember we’d just watched Forks Over Knives the night before) people can be so lazy. When we started out on the hike there were so many people around to see the same falls we’d come to see. But as we meandered up the trail it didn’t take long to lose the mass of humanity and find nearly complete solitude. Are people really that lazy? With all the health problems in the country, people could at least try a little harder. Americans are really lazy when it comes down to it. Anyway. We left the park around 5 and headed out to find some food. At first we were going to eat at Rio Tomatlan in Canandaigua, but there was a 45 minute wait. So, we ended up at Pure, the new Indian restaurant in Geneva. I didn’t really struggle with the menu, but some of my choices (and some of the items) made it more difficult than it would have been just a few weeks ago. Especially when it came to fried foods, dairy, and all the “hidden” ingredients that I just didn’t have the time research — I was famished, so I ate. Anyway, we made it home, I made my morning smoothie, prepped some things for the next day and crashed.
